Cade Howard – Bridge City, Texas The Grounds Guys

Cade Howard has lived in Bridge City, Texas his entire life.  He obtained a degree in Entrepreneurship from Lamar State College in Orange, Texas.   In December of 2008, Cade started his own lawn maintenance business called GreenWorks.  Recently, he has converted his business into The Grounds Guys® Landscape Management franchise. He plans on having three full time crews within the next two years.

How did you learn about the brand?
I met The Grounds Guys at the Texas National Landscape Association trade show in Dallas, Texas.  We remained in contact and I began restructuring my business with them in August of last year.  I went to orientation in Waco, Texas, and then went through phase two training in December.  The entire experience has been exciting.

What was appealing to you about joining a franchise system?
The most appealing thing about joining a franchise system is the experience they have within the industry.  With over 25 years of experience, The Ground Guys has the knowledge of what works and what doesn’t.

The other thing that is important is the support of a national company.  The Grounds Guys sets their franchisees up for success through a proven system of support.

What makes your business different?
The customer service and communication are what set us apart from others in the industry.  In terms of bidding and pricing for our customers, we actively measure properties so that our customers know exactly what they are getting.  We never estimate or guess on pricing like other companies.  In addition, we have quality control reports that we do monthly to make certain our customers are satisfied.

What challenges have you overcome to get where you are now?
My age has been the biggest challenge to overcome in business.  I am only 22 years old, but I already have more experience than most of my competitors as I have been in lawn maintenance since I was about 12 years old.  In fact, I have been so successful in the industry I was able to pay my way through college.  With my experience and support from The Grounds Guys I am confident I will be able to develop my business and flourish in the community.

What are your expansion or development plans?
Currently, I am concentrated on building my business and bringing in new clientele.  Within two years I want to have three full-time maintenance crews.
