Franchise Opportunies With The Dwyer Group: Work Smarter, Not Harder
As a small-business owner, you can’t do it all—so stop trying. Franchise companies like The Dwyer Group have already done the research to make running a successful business easier on you. Here’s a few ways they do that.

Developing a business plan is essential to any business but can cost time and money. Do you know your customers? If so, do you know the most effective way to go about marketing to those customers? What about your workforce? Is there a system in place to recruit and train quality technicians? If you answered no to these questions, don’t worry. Established systems are readily available; you just have to look in the right place.
“When we bought a Mr. Electric franchise, it was really eye-opening to see that there were so many systems already in place that we could plug into and implement in our business. And that was a fairly new concept, because while we were working hard at running our business, we didn’t have [the right] tools to use,” say Bob and Denise Kueny, Mr. Electric franchise owners. “Being the office manager, I’ve learned how to take a marketing plan and implement that each month, track numbers, and see what’s been effective and what hasn’t,” says Denise.
Technically Savvy
As a small-business owner, chances are you’re deeply involved in every aspect of your business. It’s hard to find the time to research the latest technology in your industry, attend training, and then train your technicians. “Every day our business is changing; being a part of a franchise system allows you to be on top of [the changes],” says Vinnie Sposari, a Mr. Rooter owner in Seattle, Washington.
Not only is the research done for you, but it’s readily available to you. Bonnie Heilander, Rainbow International franchise owner in Idaho, says the technology her franchise came with helps her track detailed information, especially for billing purposes. The Xactware computer software makes it easier to keep track of the information that insurance companies need for proper payment. “Without it,” she says, “you can leave money on the table.”
Never Stop Learning
Training is key to any small business. As an independent business owner, you are tasked with researching what training classes are relevant to your business, which one’s are reputable, and whether or not they are available.
Joey Prochazka, an Aire Serv franchise owner, says being trained in all facets of your business from day one is invaluable. “Your first week of basic training, you leave headquarters and they give you the box of media: every sales technique and tactic that you could possibly ever need in the air conditioning business. It would take you years upon years to compile that on your own. There are so many steps, even just the value in the pre-training manual—the insurance, the business licenses—just every little step it takes to make a business successful. For somebody who really wants to take their business to the next level without the fear of not making it—that’s where I saw the value.”
