Jason and Shelley Barck - Des Moines, Iowa
Jason and Shelley have owned and operated Rainbow International of Des Moines since June 2006 and were recipients of the prestigious $1 Million Benchmark Award.
Why did you want to get into the restoration industry?
I spent many years in the construction industry, so restoration wasn’t entirely foreign to me. I’m good friends with an individual in Arizona who runs his own successful restoration business and spent a great deal of time visiting with him, learning what he does and how he does it. To me it looked like a great fit. Restoration work complimented my existing skills nicely and also gave me the opportunity to learn a new trade. Having decided to launch a career in restoration, I knew I needed the business systems and guidance to take it to the next level. Rainbow International gives me those systems and guidance.
What were some of the challenges you faced when you started your business?
I faced many of the same issues many new businesses do. First among these was cash flow. I also had to learn to adjust to the pay schedule of insurance work. I’m happy to say, though, my support staff at Rainbow International has been there for me every step of the way.
How has your life changed since you invested in Rainbow International?
Life is still very busy, but I prefer it that way. The biggest change is how much better I sleep at night now. Before, I worked hard but had no real plan or goal system in place. There was always work, which is good, but the work lacked an end-goal. As a franchise owner, I am now empowered to master my fate with a sharpened, determined focus and renewed vigor for what I do. My work now has a purpose, for which I am grateful.
