It Started with a Dream
Our founder, Don Dwyer Sr., began his dream of success in New York when he sold his cherished convertible to purchase a paper route so that he could earn money to pay for his college education. By the time he graduated from college, Don was earning more from his part-time paper route than he could ever earn working full-time for someone else as a recent college graduate.
Continuing on his path of entrepreneurship, Don purchased a franchise to market and sell management and motivational materials. He was so successful that the franchisor recruited him to join the home office in Waco, Texas, where he quickly rose to the position of senior vice president.
Don then seized the opportunity to create his own franchise, Rainbow International Carpet Dyeing and Cleaning Company, which became one of the world's largest companies of its kind, and the flagship of The Dwyer Group that was later formed.
Vet Fran: Supporting Individuals Who Have Served Our Country
Since 1991, The Dwyer Group has been on a mission to enable transitioning military personnel and current veterans to achieve their dreams of business ownership. The Veterans Transition Franchise Initiative (VetFran Program) was established by Don Dwyer, Sr., founder of The Dwyer Group, soon after the Gulf War. This national program is a voluntary effort of International Franchise Association (IFA) member companies to encourage franchise ownership by offering financial incentives to honorably discharged veterans.
We are honored to state that more than 160 veterans have participated in our service franchise program, and more than 1,700 veterans across 400 franchise brands have taken advantage of franchise business opportunities through the VetFran program.The Dwyer Group is proud to offer a 25% discount off the minimum initial franchise fee (as per the FDD) and special vendor incentives for qualifying individuals.
Public Protectors Franchise Advantage
The Dwyer Group launched the Public Protectors Franchise Advantage (PPFA) program in 2012 to recognize the contributions to society that have been made by individuals in law enforcement and firefighting . After a career serving in challenging and life-threatening situations, many firefighters and law enforcement officers choose to continue using their leadership expertise through a second career as franchise owners.
PPFA awards a 20% discount on the initial franchise fee for qualified future franchisees looking to open a business within The Dwyer Group's family of brands.
Women in the Trades Scholarship Fund
The Women in the Trade (WITT) Scholarship fund is designed to empower women in technical fields of studies or trades, such as household repairs and appliance repairs. The scholarship is open to women applying to a trade or technical school for any of the following seven specialties: HVAC, plumbing, electrical repair, glass repair and replacement, appliance repair, restoration, or landscaping.
