What Do You Want Out of Life?
Written by Casey Casteel
You work so you can do the things in your life that you want to do—take a vacation, spend more time with your family, and have peace of mind that you have the money to do all of those things. What’s getting in your way to accomplish these things? Maybe you are completely satisfied with your financial situation, but did it come at the price of being at the office 24/7, therefore missing out on family time? The Dwyer Group has created a simple exercise to help you determine which areas in your life need a little extra attention. Follow the steps below to see how skewed or balanced your circle is. Maybe you did The Dwyer Group’s Wheel of Life exercise last issue. If so, mark the wheel again to see if each aspect of your life has since created a more balanced circle.
Step One: Each spoke on the wheel is an aspect of your life. Evaluate each one and determine whether or not you are happy about that area in your life. Really take some time to consider every area and be honest with yourself. Have you missed too many family dinners lately due to work? Maybe you’ve lost touch with close friends. Rate each area on a scale of one to 10, with one being not at all happy with that area of your life and 10 being extremely happy, and mark it on the wheel.

Step Two: Once all of your marks have been made, connect all of the dots. How uneven is your circle? The areas closer to the center of the circle may need a little more work on your part. If your circle is pretty smooth, you have perfected your time management skills. Congratulations!
